tying the knots

tying the knots

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
"

This one is for Chris S.

"

tying the knots

the marina is still tonight

a few ripples,

sides of boats banging softly against the docks

of eternity

there is rhythm to the peace

the aroma of plates filled with delicacies

because anything consumed rocking on the water

is gourmet

to those who love the sea

the salty smell of relaxation

the intensity of the sky

and what is free

the nights produce a display of stars

a gift of the moon

shadow dancing

with the planets

the marina is still tonight

the ripples cease

the boat rests

we endure restful sleep

like we are not used to

wishing we could sail into eternity

on this dream.

And to those that don't it is spew, recollecting the days of youth when I worked in a sailing yacht, a floating resort of sorts. Stanza four sparkles and pirouettes. With the sails down there is deafening silence.

thank you for your words, Red Brick.

Two really terrific lines mixed in with all the truly fine: there is rhythm to the peace, and
the salty smell of relaxation

Well done, Jacob
