Hi, I am...

Hi, I am...

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Hi, I am...

my words joined group therapy

introduced themselves

received the usual greetings

spoke of their shortcomings

took turns being embarrassed

then took a seat

as the latest poem

received its token

of sobriety from

another heart addicted

to a bottle of tears.

Oh, what fun is that? Have a swig of description, it's prescription prescribed and imbibed by the best of poets; a shot of metaphor, a slug of alliteration, a few mugs of prose and who knows, maybe a rhyme will worm its lonely way into your brain like a pickled plaything at the bottom of a bottle of blue agave tequila. I can't promise the end result though, it might be a hangover of illustrious proportions sodden with an aching head and heart never before heard of in these fortuitous or treacherous climes. At any rate, it's bound to be better than thinking alone. You could become a thunk that way.

Lots of love, brother poet, I'm happy to pour you a smile.
Beautiful metaphor.
I think the cafe is 'our' group therapy.

I'd say that is an accurate observation.

Therapy is good. Group therapy is better.
A therapist once told me to read Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. I'll spare you the details as to why, but I'm glad he said it. - Not sure why your excellent poem here reminded me of that. :)

Thank you, Ladysue,

Breakups affect people differently some are self destructive using alcohol to comfort the pain while others bottle the pain only to let it out sooner or later. This is where this poem took me.

But then I thought maybe sobriety has brought on this bottling of tears through change and regret.

(another heart addicted to a bottle of tears) By line for most poets and other creative beings I believe. ~Sharon

Seems as though the troubled have a head start on poetry. Many years ago I spent a lot of time around folks like this and one girl spoke about her car breaking down while she and her girlfired waited for a tow.
She said, "we sang songs to make the time go away."
I've always remembered that as poetry spoken.

Yes, tears can hook you as strongly as Jack Daniels. It seems the addicted relapse rather frequently.

Very interesting take on therapy.... " a bottle of tears"... that line is the best; a very good choice for a poem; In therapy we are suppose to let our our mentions... and you did this quite well J., but in a very creative way (as usual)!
