A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Words

graphically violent

a heart torn to bits

by that hand grenade

from which you pulled the pin

as it rested on your tongue.

And they told us words can never hurt you. Physically, they can't, but the right words from the right person can drive you to hurt yourself. The addressee in this offering seem to have been one of those people.

thank you for your insights, John,
j.
So true, words are our greatest weapon, even more powerful than a gunshot because even though gunshots can cause death, some shots are not fatal and can be cured. But once you say something, there is no taking back those words and whatever someone says usually comes straight from their heart. One must always say thinks with caution. Thank you for sharing, I enjoyed the short piece!
