I guess the older we get then that cane becomes much more than a simply walking aid, taking on the role of trusted friend as many such like have now and long since passed on ...

Brilliant life musing brevity my friend!! 🥂

So true Jacob; My grandmother used to walk with a cane at 88 years aging gracefully, with all of her life's memories behind her....whatever life is left....and it's quality...seen through grey eyes....
nice Senryu Jacob;
Hope you are doing well;
Best,B

Yet he may squint to look back on the life behind him, but he can also squint to look forward to what lies ahead. There is still life in those footsteps, even with a cane to hand. Lovely senryu.

You know, those are the best people to walk right up to and greet. They usually have a sweetest smile. Maybe a cane in front… but he’s still walking! 😊

Yes the further we go from our beginning, the more we leave behind and our road becomes shorter, closer to the end, maybe that’s why we slow down, smaller steps for there are no prizes coming first across the finishing line.

the real prize is finishing and feeling we made the most of life.

I've always seen the opposite as the old man slows, life rushes by, but your words do make so much more sense.
Life is now the part that it's too uncomfortable to turn and see what it's up to.

time does seem to go faster, doesn't it?
yes.

Yes, and get noisier too! 😊
And in his head a lifetime of pictures now that his sight is failing

And in his heart a lifetime of living emotions

What alot can be said about this remarkable piece J. Hopefully his other senses will become heightened and his hearing will pick up the bird song in stereo.
