A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

film noir

every purpose

lets down

meaning like some transfusion

fulfills errant fantasies

with the wrong blood

blunting intention

causing us to wake

to a flurry

of sound

that appears

to be in someone else's film

a spliced heartbeat

and bad popcorn.

It is funny how the colors of life become black and white quickly when the script is not what we signed up for. Nice one Jacob.

thank you, will,
j.
Special care has to be taken when a mother's fetus is a different blood type. My wife had to have shots to keep her antibodies from attacking our daughter in the womb. Our daughter was born a bit jaundiced because of it and was put on a bilirubin blanket for a few days after delivery. Long ago doctors suggested putting the infant in indirect sunlight for limited periods to help the developing liver process out the destroyed red blood cells. So...maybe the poet just needs to put his dreams and thoughts on a nice imaginary beach somewhere with lots of sunshine and fresh salt air to gain a complete recovery of intention. (hey, it's worth a shot) And maybe that will bring the color back into his black and white visions and maybe to his cheeks as well. This diagnosis is not designed to treat any form of writer's block. That's my unofficial disclaimer. (smiling) Bless you, my friend. F.

I got a kick out of your reply...I would prefer a nice pasture to the beach...
I do love cows.. read more
The poet seems waylaid perhaps, not where he wants to be. We do feel alien in our bodies and minds, sometimes. As if the wrong blood has seeped in and gripping our veins. There's so much food for thought in your words. Loved the read.

You're most welcome, dear Jacob. 🙋‍♀️💕
A state of confusion here J. Nothing seems quite right. Reminds me of waking up after surgery wondering where I was and what I was doing there. No one wants to be in someone else’s’s film especially when it’s scary and the popcorn is bad.

maybe a different theater would be best,
thank you, Chris,
j.
And as the script plays, you know you understand the language, but not in the order or expressions that go with the words and are left with the thought "I'm sure that movie wasn't called two day old popcorn at the beginning! 😊
