when one grieves, its' healthier to have some moments alone to heal your broken heart.... it's more difficult to speak about loss, even though some say it helps mend..it's difficult to see light, everything is dark, shades drawn, the mood is gloomy..... until one feels comfortable to move on....pain lasts as long as it wants to.....unfortunately.....

thank you for your words, Betty,

The only time I have ever felt this way is when mum died early April as Spring was bursting into life and the world becoming colour filled once more. All I wanted was the world to be as dark as I was feeling and the sun to stay hidden.
Good morning Jacob, hope you are keeping well

Time certainly doesn't heal it just numbs the pain
An excellent poem with mood enducing sentiments and eyes deducting facts of daily living. When our time comes sir Jacob, we will cross the bridge of eternity into the after life, the narrow, so crowded, or the wide, less congested. Now, let us focus at the here and now.
I love the sun peeping through the window at sunrise to welcome a new day. However I have to be in a happy mood to greet it. If I am on a downer or concerned about anything I am more likely to block it out. You blocked the sun out J my friend. That speaks to me.

Nothing seems funny first thing in the morning, least of all an orange smile. I can understand the need to draw the blinds, but not the first word of the last line.
What a great image of nature personified and the lack of desire to face a new day. I loved the pairing of concealed conjealed in regard to the heart. Nice wordsmithing
A Heart is a many splendored thing… peeking through a window pane. A burnished smile will fade into the day… while Dreams will stay forever and a day. A Misty morning in silver rays is softly wishing you a pleasant New Year. tenderly, Pat
