A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

old

timeless

hopeless treaty

the body wanes

wears to the bones

of sincerity

all that is left

of the wars of life

the thin line of existence

one minute behind it

next minute on it

last minute over it

when sunset leaves our soul

in the dark womb

from which it was born

bending the truth into fetal position.

Powerful use of words Jacob. We can't stop time. Old age will find us. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

You are welcome my friend.
Our bodies can become a prison as we age, but it is also like that for some when they are very young. Trapped inside bones and flesh that are failing. Let’s hope the ever after is kinder to the soul.

I sure do hope it is, Chris.
thank you for your words,

Not a recruiting poster for old age, this one. It is true; the body, being matter, is subject to change, the last being what we call death. Even then, though, the body continues to change, its elements continuing to break down. But the body is really energy, which is indestructible. Perhaps that holds true for consciousness, too.

Perhaps it does...consciousness as well as conscience.
Thank you, John.

dear Jacob... all we have are feelings.... which is like a "Vein of Gold".
Our Spirit is very tangible.. unlike our Body. I simply feel that when our Spirit leaves our Body... it goes somewhere that is Awesome. I have no idea if we will "know" anything when we pass away.. Perhaps we are pre-destined. tenderly, Pat

I have wondered about that, Pat...

They say you are a child twice; once when after birth, the other when we are at the sunset of life. Some say twice in diapers, too. Life and its ups and downs can claim victims, be affected by all sorts of calamities.
May God (not religion) help us at the end of the tunnel.
You summed it up marvelously.
