O'Hara was telling me of his accidental suicide getting sliced to the page by an errant jeep hustling along a New Jersey beach front on the back of one of his poems also committing accidental suicide his infatuation with Lana Turner distracted his pen
and it ran into the oncoming words that were his last even as death sketched his final breath five poems left mouth clutching the agony of the moment
as tightly as he had wished to hold Lana upright when she couldn't stand on her own.
"now I lay me down to sleep"
