If you are going to know the river I'd suggest you get wet, then study the slow music it provides inside your heart. The sky only has so many names and yet the poet can take hold and give it a billion more..." that gate of providence that weeps for reasons unknown" and so it goes. Knowledge of the heart and a solid love for the flame in darkness. "A child's hand fresh from the mud of war"...do not go so deeply into the cranial when reaching into the fires of emotion. Thanks for sharing J~ always a deeper walk and ponderance beyond your structures!

Are we to blame as poets for the interpretation taken by a reader when their opinion differs from our own? You've peaked my curiosity with this one, J!

and no...neither poets or readers are to blame if opinions differ on meanings.
there is no right or wrong in poetry....poets write the pieces for a reason, they are inspired. And then readers read for what they can get from the poems...what it means to them...
there is no true/false---
I just poetry comes from some kind of break from the norm of education.
thank you for your curiosity, Kelly....

A passion for knowledge is fine. Poetry without passion is missing a trick. A little brevity and I’m not sure my thoughts were along the lines of your own thinking here J.
So true. Art, whether poetry or other form does require a sensitivity that is a secret that others may see as a disregard for the scientific formula for truth. Well said in so few words.
When others don't share our vision or see what we see, there are ramifications, not always discord but sometimes for something better. To me it doesn't always matter what others see. I'm used to being misunderstood and I just enjoy doing my thing, my way.
An interesting poem.
