Vanishing into Light

Vanishing into Light

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Vanishing into Light
sarcastic heartbeats
aloof venom
poison persuasion
i loved her till i burst
with passion,
then like a twisted symmetry
the shape of love
rewound the wounds
and i disappeared.

Sadly, the shape of love is not a "One size fits all" proposition. The right fit isn't always guaranteed regardless of how it feels when it is on you.

I think love is a shape changer! I can see the unwinding....great imagery. When the spark ignites, it can burn badly. Lydi**

Thank you, Lydi,

The poem suggests that trying to shape and gain a perspective in the wake of love is almost self-defeating. You've mentioned Dickinson earlier. This poem expresses the opposite to After great pain a formal feeling comes. There is nothing formal or distancing here. The I disappeared is a cri de coeur, a forlorn wish or hope in this self-lacerating piece.

thank you for your words, John,

The shape of this love was all wrong.
It just forced open old wounds and love fell into a gaping chasm.
Twisted symmetry sounded so ominous here...
