the pace of actuality

the pace of actuality

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the pace of actuality

there were 16 candles once

decades later

16 breaths are more deliberate

slowly climbing out from the lungs

of experience

timing never was an easy achievement

rhythm came with poetry

i am still trying to blow out those candles

only now

it is one at a time.

Ageing is such a sad reality.
Yet, if one ages as beautifully as your writing then give me that over the youth you mention in this poem anytime!
An absolutely amazing poem.
