The word secret is mentioned five times in this piece which has many religious references. I ask, why the secrets? Is something taking place here which is pricking a conscience? Perhaps it goes against the grain, but just can’t be helped? I found the poem intriguing but thought we are all sinners, some more than others.

yes, some more than others...so true...thank you, Chris,

Oh, this feels so heavy. Secrets are an incredible burden.
I'm not religious and I don't believe in the immaculate conception so I've wondered at the truth of Mary's story. Is a violation by God any less of a violation? Or was this the story to cover a secret.

interesting response and quite a valid question, Ciara, thank you,

Funny, as I read this poem while at work, someone opens the door to the shop and blaring from a tech's radio is "Knocking on heaven's door" Guns n Roses version and I think...would he have had to knock if some things weren't kept out of the public eye? Under the shroud as it were. Some things are better off kept private, even when a "no secrets" bond is in effect...there are still those that you just can't utter. Nice one Jacob
