the ones left out on the porch

the ones left out on the porch

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the ones left out on the porch

one quaint snowflake

among the cocktail crowd

cares about the blade

she lands upon

and the glaciated heart

she leaves in her wake

How I know this “glaciated heart” well.
It takes years to thaw even the edges…

And she suffered as much. Blood and ice…

Enjoying your writing today.

Scott.

She’ll never make it in high society because she has a heart.

Hmmm ... So, everyone else was having a good time; and this one lady was not too happy. Little did she know, she left a poem in her wake. :-)

This had an icy feel to it. I saw a sinister side like a permafrost on what she touches. It’s the impression she leaves behind like the movie frozen.

Winter had came to Michigan Jacob. Was 75 degrees and the next day 35 degree. The Great Lakes make the weather. Old and loco. I liked the dance of words my friend. The cold days, they come when they want.

You are welcome Jacob.
This can be taken a few different ways. Snowflakes, falling from the sky or a northern state. This to me is someone from NY in FLA not really knowing how to act and getting hurt in the process. Probably not that but that's how I see it from S. Texas where we hardly ever get snow. : )

will, i really appreciate this take on the poem...thank you very much for your thoughts,

dear Jacob... we had a hint of snowflakes... they welcome Winter as we try to melt their
cold cold Heart. The beauty of the softly falling Snowflakes will linger among the Pumpkins and
Chrysanthemums... as we think of the Pilgrims in a new World... the Immigrants with Hope amid the
Confusion. Pilgrims need Shelter. Prayers at Thanksgiving. My new Avatar is an older photo of our grandchildren Ethan and Madeline with their first Dog named Kinko. Kinko has recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Ethan is now nineteen and joined his father's Business. Maddie is now a Sophomore in High School with an Entrepreneur Curriculum. Time marches on. Wishing you a Blessed Thanksgiving with a Delicious Dinner and all the trimmings. tenderly, Pat
