A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Scene

the wind settles its account

deficit of leaves

winter out of the red into the black

a cold withdrawal

frozen funds

the reserves evaluated

shivering representative

the houses look so lonely

the teller in white

spring might see

a reopening,

after thoughtful months

playing it close to the vest.

Yes, winter does start making heavy withdrawals this time of year. That's why it pays to invest. Thermal underwear seems a safe bet.

ha ha...yes, a good idea.

A wonderful play on words that turns to an allegory with metaphors. This one has it all. Well written in so few words.

thank you for your very kind words, Soren,

I feel we are heading into a fearsome “winter” of humanity. The season only reminds me and reinforces this suspicion.

I don’t think the “bank” will have anything left this Spring…

Sadly,

Scott.

I agree, Scott...and it definitely saddens me as well.

the wind settles its account...thats such a lovely line...the wind never forgets past misdeeds and brings back what is sown.

Spring might see a re-opening indeed and that would be nice for all.

Some of your words made me think of some political events of late.

Very beautiful imagery of the lonely houses. Loved this read.
