Pillow Talk

Pillow Talk

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Pillow Talk

when a poet

touches another poet

a poem is born

out of silent mating

the mime endorses

secret verbs

nudging nouns

a poem is born

and there is a voice

but aloud

only utter stillness

Like a butterfly to a flower. The whole ritual of the dance is short lived. Yes the intimacy of a poem reaches out for a connection between thoughts sometimes waiting, waiting, waiting… and then an opinion is born, and shared. But from the aftermath from thoughts moving on, one sees many gravestones - a writer’s cemetery.

dear Jacob… the Stillness of your Poem has Rocked me to that Place where Morning Glories sing and Trumpets spread the Proclamation of the King. Amen… Pat

This poem so brilliantly underlines the human connection so vital to inspiring poetry in our spirits. Sometimes, it takes so little to inspire so much. Loved this poem, absolutely.

This reminds me of Frost (and Eliot and others) who strongly believed poetry is built like a wall that sits atop and is added to the existing wall. I think there is much in that idea.

I admire those of you that have the ability to find the words to write at will. I mostly, or so it seems, need a bit of misery to get the juices flowing.
Tis the best feeling when posting to have ones peers enjoy what is served up.

I just love how the words seem to flow out smooth and almost dream like. And I absolutely agree with you my friend, this is a beautifully made piece of art.

wholeheartedly agree Jacob, reading poetry is what inspires one to write. Inspiration, jealousy, rage, love...you name the emotion and it is to be found in poetry. I can't fathom the idea of simply sitting on a bench waiting for a poem to be delivered by a raven circling overhead.

A lone poet in an empty room full of audible words is just an empty room, I guess. Poetry is music to poets if they're able to connect in some way and identify with the music of the poem even if they don't fully understand it. I think it's kind of like having a favorite song and finding out what he was really singing all those years later.

Positive energy feeding one another. Poets can lean on one another for inspiration and its a wonderful community to be a part of. Nice job Jacob. I really enjoyed this.

I love what Andrew said about the butterfly and flower... germinating life ... poets inspire one another through their poems, images and ideas and emotions and themes gathered like pollen in our butterflights.
The mime is the flower that open, has a voice, and speaks to others as a poem
