you, years later

you, years later

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

you, years later

compose

composure

slipping into poetic withdrawal

the words write themselves

into a therapeutic corner

of blind awareness

i saw you in a different

light

than the sun

than the moon

than what you were

before you were

the enigma

haunting me years later

years earlier

years transposed

composure alights

composing

an epiphany

engages

i am slipping into poetic coma

when i wake

the moon will be your regal crown

you thought of yourself as royalty

when this knight

departed

the doctor is in

i am out

you are the soul of my reckoning

poetic influence

the couch is warm

the poetry is cold

'you, years later'
Jacob,
Life that touched your life. It's light left an impact. Your poem reminds me of the orange sun slipping behind ocean horizon leaving it's afterglow streaks across the darkening sky. I read the waning afterglow of memory and the reality of what this person-experience meant. Last line was catchin......
"poetic influence
the couch is warm
the poetry is cold.'
Bless you.

thank you, willow,

Fantastic j. This can be read in many ways but the stand out for me was the change in self brings about a change in outlook and direction be it past or present. Maybe it’s maturity calling.

ah yes, change in self...thank you, andrew,
j.
Funny how things seem so different when we look back after va lifetime of other experiences that colour our thoughts in different hues .
Roses were always red , now we percieve them in many colours ......
She who was untouchable now is seen as just a white rose possibly with thorns.

thank you, Andrew,

what jumped out at me most of your latest Jacob is how the first and last line could stand alone as their own epitaph to every poet in existence since time first gave us words to speak.
compose
the poetry is cold

in the middle a poignant 3rd stanza, that I imagine all men feel at some point in life...I saw you in.../before you were

somedays I must admit I feel the regret of a missed assignation more painful than some of the capital crimes I have committed.
