the first and last frostA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
in a maniacal fall i wept you were the turning leaf expiring into cold ground seasons envelop hearts when friends find more comfort letting go, than painfully articulating how to bear a winter's immaculate snow reason is a tear on a cheek that lost its faith humanity is a Titanic drop drowning in frigid sorrow i tried to catch you but God's breeze kept you just out of reach now i sit by that tree imagining what could have been if the seasons were fair. erin-cilberto 9/21/22 © 2022 jacob erin-cilberto |
