the flickers bicker with reason

the flickers bicker with reason

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the flickers bicker with reason

dark mood blew out the lone candle

i type in the blackness

of the imagery i climb

like a rocky crag

it isn't pretty

but then,

neither am i

but experienced

in the streams of reverie

for the lost causes

once close to me

and the lovers and friends

who came to bad ends

and left me streaming,

not in the technical sense

but with tears over what made no sense

i am at an age to understand things

but my rationale says

i have never gotten the equation

to match on both sides

greater than, less than

more confused than

a toddler still carrying the umbilical

around like an instrument

as bystanders throw quarters

into the crib of credence

nothing matters

that is misunderstood

there is an uncoupling of reason

just when awareness

shivers into being

and the snuffed candle

finds its heaven

in the dreams it never fulfilled.

Relatable in some way but it's clear enough that this piece wouldn't be able to be penned without experience of life .... That was great sir ....
... I wrote a new story for the first time , Please read and review so that I can improve .... If you have time ....

Losing can be, of course, a terrible thing. This poem captures that mood. Thanks, J.

thank you, Andrew,

Such a poignant piece J. Hurts to read because I also remember my friends whose lives were cut short prematurely. It makes no sense but we have to accept it and that is difficult when you can't weigh it up. The scales are unbalanced and the darkness is still there when I think of my losses. So sorry dear friend for yours. You pay a fine tribute to them here.

You understand, I know...thank you for your words of comfort, Chris,

Disappointment can only be fed by expectations even that one disguised as hope. The balance sheet is a misnomer-unbalanced life is the norm.

Jacob,

I can truthfully relate to this philosophical piece of poetry that simply oozes and emanates the joys and travesties of life experience which we all experience in attempting to save life, while also attempting to grasp and understand its true essence of meaning, as we witness that road of the lives of others, as friends and lovers, come to its end, with our own road's end just around the bend, perhaps, just another day away ... Very poignant to me in having lost so many people that I loved, including my wife ...
