Learning Curb

Learning Curb

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Learning Curb

current feeds current

the bombings sound softly

receding

People still die

a country on the verge of extinction

but old news is no news

current feeds current

"the times they are a changin'"

News has such a short attention span

saturation of the latest

little speak of the late stories

now as dead,

as the people they were about.

current feeds current

Thought of the media and how quiet it has gone on the matter of Ukraine where people still die daily and a war continues.

A new story begins, it's the same old, same old. Soon that will be old news and the cycle will start again. The media decide what is relevant, what sells....

it is such a shame...the story that gets the biggest ratings is the one that floods the media.

Very sad. We see so much violence on the news that I think we are hardened to it. Not only that, the news channels are 24/7 so they are constantly looking for the next big thing. The Rolling Stones sang, "who wants yesterday's papers?" That says it all. Lydi**

You are always welcome, dear jacob.
Media is very cruel, while many people die in Ukraine, Middle-east and Africa because of war and dictatorship, the media is fulfilled with junk news about celebrities and etc.
It is really a shame.
I agree with your words on this poem.
"current feeds current
the bombings sound softly
receding
People still die
a country on the verge of extinction"
These lines are very touching.

You are welcome Jacob.
absolutely, our elasticity in moving on to the next big thing is what drives the wheel of commerce, got to keep moving or we might get hit by compassion and action. If we keep moving we can say we didn't have time for action. Let the images change every 7-10 seconds and you have my undivided attention. Good read, thanks. Peace to you

Jacob,

All too f*****g true ... News has become cowardly Journalism Yellow and all about Sensationalism and sowing and inciting fear within the minds of those stupid enough to be mesmerized and hypnotized by news stories that are not NEWS at all, but editorialized rating leeching lies, both, Headline News as well as Social Media ...

The late Kirk Douglas said in his Autobiography, The Ragman's Son (& he was a Democrat), "have you ever noticed that the News Commentator seems to be creating the News, rather than reporting it?"

You really have to work to stay relevant in these days of 24/7 news. Even worse, wars of attrition tend to be boring. Nobody likes a stalemate. Now, if Zelensky launches a full scale invasion of Russia, THAT will catch CNN's eye, at least for a while.

dear Jacob… The Learning Curb needs to be Painted fluorescent Yellow.. to get the Attention of the Older Politicians… who repeat the same mistakes over and over. We need New younger Leaders who can put the Puzzle together and Frame the Documents that represent Freedom from tyranny.. proven over and over to be Proven True and Steadfast … as a Tree of Wisdom… I Bid you Adieu… Pat
