This is very powerful poetry. Not only in terms of the powerful diction, which I really love, but also in terms of the message. It's very sad that many, many people in today's times ignore poetry, just because it isn't "fashionable" nowdays and it's good that you're emphasising how powerful poetry can be.
I admit I had to stop for a few moments and just take in your words . . . amazing. Just amazing.
We are entering an era where only compassionate, lovers of writings will reply.Times are changing, the young ones are not recognising how words are spelt in a new world of texting English where words, sentences are all but hurried and images seem more important. Yes a dying art where you only get the accolades after you are dead. After reading John’s comments I find sometimes poetry doesn’t always have to be understood, there’s an air of abstraction permeating the lines, sometimes opening up to the reader other times not. For example MacArthur park had terrible lyrics but there was something emotional that made that song for me Anyway raving on here, art is what you make it . Nice write.

I think abstraction gives space, and I really appreciate your words...so insightful.

As for MacArthur Park...we have slight disagreement...that is the song that is number one on my all time hate list...I guess I don't care if someone left the cake out in the rain...
and yet the singer was such a good actor....like Sinatra, he should have stuck to that.
So maybe after I'm dead...say something nice?
thanks, andrew.

Actually, after reading some current poetry publications, I would find a nice, clear text message to be a relief. The reason no one is paying attention is because no one can understand them.

that is a solemn thought...but sure makes sense.

This took me so many reads to wrap around, you didn't confound me but I'm not even sure my grasp is secure. For sure your words have hit the ground and found a bedrock like only a poet can. Ten out of ten... but then... when can one break the fourth wall? To fell the swell of poetic egotism with a schism of words so true that they're blue from holding their breath. The brushstrokes of a master may last for eternity and I thank you for this offering.

This piece is so well penned
perhaps those profound echoes
from the past are indeed guiding
your gifted quill ..those great poets
may just be collaborating ..your
poetry is always so enjoyable to read
One day I wrote six fairly ok ones one after the other and I felt they weren’t my own I’m not saying they were good but my partner said the same to me
Where did they come from ?? I said probably a dead poet without them I’m nothing
I feel we are all conduits bodies for the artists n poets long gone and to them we are the fingers that move our generation for them
Anyway my dead poet was not as famous as yours Jacob !
Great write ✍️

they are all famous in my book...all have left a legacy. thank you, Julie,

I feel as if you're a dead poet, you are more famous, readable than the living poets.. who long to have legacy...it seems living poets are just okay, nothing special where no one pays attention....could we all do better? maybe!!!
Great J

I never feel like I write my poetry, I just feel like a conduit...so maybe one of them in collaboration with some force drives our pen or our fingers over the keys.

Well, my friend, now you’ve done it-you’ve secured your place by writing something important, something profound, and have done so it a most poetic way.
Sincerest congratulations for this one, Jacob. You have arrived.
