A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

unnumbered pages

and there were days

of wine and muses

and half-written poems

trying to sleep it off

in a somber, sober state

the lines straightened out a bit

but sweetly contrived hangover

addressed the unrequited love

and reasoned why

the other half of the verse

was a vacant side of the bed.

I used to drink pretty heavily pre joining here in 2016 2017
After I stopped alcohol my mind awoke I became the person I am today and got my mind working artistically again
Before that I was just a dead brain for ten years drinking on and off never wrote anything
But I do miss being able to sip a red wine or two to feel that rush but doc says Nah
I resonated with your poem
Liked it a lot Jacob

it was 2015
im sure it was a Godsend
I do hate it when the writing seems to be going well and then suddenly it stalls. Especially when I'm three quarters through something I really like. Unrequited indeed; more like rejected.

or becomes a chore...thanks for your words, John,
j.
the unnumbered pages might be those written under the influence, maybe half sober, with unrequited love; just like the love was half in the bed and half out....vacant as you say...no time for writing just love-making, no time to finish a poem... but unfortunately the bed was half empty too.
Best, B.( PS great metaphors)
