A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

epitaph

for the poet,

are the words buried treasure

or

are we buried

and then our words treasured

i treasure the ability

to write

acclaim notwithstanding

line my coffin with old typewriters

i promise

i will use all of my fingers.

I think we get buried in our words but, I believe our words are for everyone to read and enjoy. The readers should take from them what they will.....absorb them, apply them, contemplate them, fall in love with them or, hate them. Doesn't matter. You are so lucky to be so gifted that the words come easily to you. I am so grateful that you share your words in the format that you do. I like this poem! Temp

You are very welcome friend!!
The words are buried treasure, because they belong to you, the poet. Take everything with you into the ground or burn them with you, either way.... But then others won't remember your poetic fame...if you take them... and that would be a pity.... so I changed my mind,.... your words belong to us.....
I'm confused!!!

Well stated, J.

Is it compulsion? No, that's not it. Is it need? No, Not exactly. It's something that can't be explained, like a poem. Much like this one.
