the sole of a man

the sole of a man

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the sole of a man

the old man's shoes

a fleeced cloud as runway

tears of a journey's end

a life untied

tripping over laced dialogue

forgetting the steps

he put his shoes to rest

and followed soon after

falling asleep

shoes next to the bed

standing at attention

as are our memories of him.

You gotta keep those shoes laced up brother; do not go gently into that good night, and to hell with the memories… that’s vanity :)

Old men, old women - they always leave memories in their wake. They've been here too long to forget them anytime soon.

j., such a beautiful poem all the way through. ...a fleeced cloud as runway tears of a journey's end a life untied. ...he put his shoes to rest....standing at attention as are our memories of him. So many great lines that carried this soul to his destiny. I will have to add this one to my library. Thank you for sharing! Temp

I do believe you have filleted this sole with a lot of soul . I particularly liked the final metaphor of memories at attention.
