Meeting at the Cafe

Meeting at the Cafe

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Meeting at the Cafe

I hide within pages

buy me

a coffee

and sit with me a while

transcript of life's conceptions

and misconceptions

abide within the boundaries

of this binding

latitude and longitude

of feelings expressed

with attitude

less fortitude

dog ear what bites you in your mind

the rabid poems

will flaunt themselves

the lines a foaming mass

of self-serving demeanor

I'll assume you will consume

the coffee is on me

the spilling of my heart

is on you.

Company matters. Especially for poetry. The cafe is an amazing place for sharing our lives and experiences, inspiration.

"dog ear what bites you in your mind
the rabid poems"

I love this line! Rabid can be so welcome sometimes.

thank you, kenzie,

I have actually done this with a few poetry books including yours. My best coffee dates ever, me, coffee and a poet spilling my heart all over the cafe tables. The best poets always make me spill, better than drool, had a few of those too, not everyone I read is great, read and learn, no it’s live and learn, whatever, same thing. ;) This is wonderful writing!

Love this
We should all do zoom together and hold up our coffee cups and recite a poem
Only problem I don’t do zoom
Great poem
Hope you well

Seems like you had to "spill your heart" on this person in the cafe. whomever he/she his, but that's not the whole point. The point is you had been hiding so many emotions of angst's, including those that you stated, writing furiously about your thoughts on life as you see it now and maybe the future. It seems like you had to share it with that someone....and the last line is the killer, love it!!!
Best, B

Well Jacob I thank my lucky stars I stumbled across this place and have had the good fortune to read and learn from my peers, you obviously at the forefront of these.

Rants and raves and stones and staves and villagers with torches, oh my! Feel free to spill your heart on me anytime. I enjoyed the read. F.

Perhaps we can teach him, "Putting on the Ritz" and get him a Fred Astaire outfit. (laughing)

Yes. Every poet spills his or her heart in each rhyme. I miss being able visit a coffee shop. But only one remains in town. And it is beyond this Drifter's budget. Thoughts well presented, my friend.
