drafted into the chill

drafted into the chill

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

drafted into the chill
a cold wind
is disrespectful of feelings
raw, bitter images
excruciate the swollen cheek
as tears freeze to the heart
and my steps towards you
become slower,
slower, slower
halted, my scarf
waves like a white flag
the fight in me
is an autumn leaf
that wants to soldier no more.

I love this. probably because today I was conjuring a poem of along this thought path, I was picturing how. to say it without saying it, you have inspired me. I have been opting for the slow fade.

This cold you speak of, I must experience it at some point in my life.

Always nice to read your work.

The realization of mortality wasn't as honest as the proceeding act. I suppose we all face the closing curtain in our own way. I most certainly felt this.

thank you for your words, Ed,

Figuratively and literally, winter brings us all to a standstill. A broken heart compounds the condition.
We want to soldier on. But the will to fight, like a river is like locked in ice.
Powerful words and emotions. Well written, friend.

The Soldier faltered in the freezing Snow... as his Heart was wounded...
and weary as the Winter was even too much for the Weeping Willow. He longed for a Pillow and the warmth of an embrace... Amen... gently, Pat
