drafted into the chill

drafted into the chill

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

drafted into the chill
a cold wind
is disrespectful of feelings
raw, bitter images
excruciate the swollen cheek
as tears freeze to the heart
and my steps towards you
become slower,
slower, slower
halted, my scarf
waves like a white flag
the fight in me
is an autumn leaf
that wants to soldier no more.

I love this. probably because today I was conjuring a poem of along this thought path, I was picturing how. to say it without saying it, you have inspired me. I have been opting for the slow fade.

This cold you speak of, I must experience it at some point in my life.

Always nice to read your work.

They always say, "Don't give up the fight" but sometimes the fight gives up in us. Delicate metaphor brilliantly crafted here. I enjoyed the read.

I feel here a relationship that has gone pear shaped over a period of time. I feel a withdrawal of once warm feelings, into a white flag situation. The effort has been too exhausting. Time to call it a day. I felt the chill here J. Excellent poem and the title is perfect.

Some hearts are warm, some are a deep freeze that puts a wind chill to shame, frozen still marching toward slower and slower like when the tin man gets wet, great visual btw. Autumn is over, all but a leaf in the wind when winter comes and chills you to the bone. Freezing just reading it. Ugh winter.

This poem is cold! - See what I did there? lol
Where I live many people come to get away from the cold, thought the cold never ruin their good old days tucked away in their minds. Cold has a purpose. Cuddling near a fireplace or bonfire would be unbearable if it wasn't cold. A lot of my romantic writes I think of thru the eye of the cold. But there is certainly a harsh side to it, indeed. Thank you for reminding me of that in this well-descriptive writing.

Coldness from someone loved can be so cruel, brutal to the heart. sometimes we have nothing in our hands but to accept and surrender and this is not weakness, in fact this is one of the most hard things that only strong people can do (a soldier :>). your lines drips with tears and blood. another marvelously written of sore wounds and pains. Take care of yourself in that cold Mr. J :> (It's VERY cold here these days).
