Love Poem

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Love Poem
I slipped you into my folder
concussed heart
envelopes love
cuddling with hope
you will file me into your system
as well
I can't remember where I am
but feel I have known you
before, during and after
the fall
it's worth the risk
to fall again and again
I'm sure I know you
I'm sure.

The imagery is well chosen here. Both original and apposite! Well penned indeed!

thank you for your kind words, Robert,

I write very little, and I guess I'm too unsophisticated to understand the subtly in much of the poetry I read.

I see the words, I know the words, but the meaning very often escapes me.

Is there a trick, or other way of looking and thinking that makes poems like these more clear?

Well worth revisiting should the opportunity occur. Been there before so you know what's in store. Love is a gift worth the risk. Now you've got me rhyming J :)

thank you, Chris,

Hearts, hope and love cuddling in an envelope. At least it shouldn't be hard to find the file when it's time to call again as it would be bulging and pulsating in the cabinet.

thank you for your insightful words, Bill.

love is just an emotion, how we feel lies in the heart
but sometimes the heart can lie,
I really enjoyed this, leaves me with a cliff hanger of what to feel.
Is it true, is it real, or is it just the gut speaking.

Good is always good but food tastes better when we're hungry. Desire drives appetite. I enjoyed this.

Spoken like a veteran of the love wars. It's getting pretty bad, though, when you're not sure you remember them.

As Plato said, all knowledge is remembrance we have from a world of ideals.

The filing analogy is a great one!

There is a certain insanity to love ... it cannot be controlled or corralled ... we do not know when it will strike or how hard ... much like COVID ... all we can do is hang on for all we're worth.

I find my old loves appearing again in my dreams recently ... I am mystified.
