A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a means away from meaning

integrity
remains elusive
shoddy poet
writes back door
lines that lurk
with unsure consonants

respect
is a poet's Holy Grail
words
his journey

in the end
his assonance breeds self-contempt
he smiles unevenly as he is

selling out
for a name.

The excellent poem. There is a lot of content in a few words. I like such poems, although my writing style is slightly different from them. Congratulations. I wish you a lot of creative inspiration.

I want to be remembered in December when North Winds blow and
Hearts and Hearths are warm with the Fire of Passion. No rhyme or Reason for the Season. Integrity is knocking at my Door.. can there be More.
Your poetry is an opening to a Concerto for Brilliant Crescendoes. gently, Pat

Respect is a poet's Holy Grail....I like that line and it is very true. Even in a place of poets like this respect is earned. I suppose we all live or die by our words. Others may sell out their integrity for the dollar or some fleeting fame. You can leave me out of that, though. This reads much like a poetic sequel to your New Yorker poem, Jacob. The poet still seethes, perhaps? Always enjoyable to read your work, my friend. ⚘
