a Model's Arrangement

 

 

 

frigid masterpiece

of her once smile

turned down like the watercolor tears

that found a home on her blushing cheek

 

the paint cracking from the cold of her heart

I stare at her likeness

the brush lies inert

feelings frozen to the bristles

 

of the once smile

she posed for me.

I wonder if Da Vinci felt this way about Lisa del Giocondo after he painted her. She doesn't seem so frigid though, smiling her little sideways glance. This was an interesting read. I enjoyed.

How are things in NC?

Cloudy, overcast and chilly but not as cold as we're used to this time of year. It's been a very trying holiday season. I lost a good friend to brain cancer. My sister had a near fatal accident and then my niece was in an unrelated auto crash, also nearly fatal. But Christmas was nice and the baby had a great time opening her gifts and visiting the local lights and sights.

They are both expected to survive. My sister fell through a building floor, broke seven ribs, her femur and hip, her coccyx bone, collar bone, both hands and suffered other bruises, cuts and contusions and a concussion. She was touch and go for awhile but is in physical rehab now. It will be a long painful road for her. My niece suffered a broken breastbone and a lacerated liver and had glass embedded in her. She's still in the hospital but alert and stable. They are monitoring her after surgery to repair her liver.
