Gosh! yes, I know... I know... some wounds leave scars, and no matter how harsh pain we may face later, it doesn't matter... it doesn't feel as profound as that first time. we are dull and empty, if we are hurt or not it doesn't matter for us anymore. deep, deep pain hidden there. deep unhealed one.
I recall so many clouds, so many walks outside in the cold rain. This machine-gun delivery of yours grows inside the heart all too familiar, it's an odd amazing period of time that just disappears or the smell of lilac that drops after spring or perhaps the sudden smell from a brown lunch paper bag you've retained since childhood that opens a wound. In other words, you hit the mark, and to find our umbrellas, well, we do get better but, it changes us. Shame on our ability to turn a good solid cutting rain into a drizzle! Thanks, J.
A very poignant poem with lovely metaphors, we all have loopholes in our love, and as we age the shower isn’t quite the same.
Happy holidays dear J.
Best

Very nice use of words. Jacob, you left the reader with things to ponder. I agree. The rain is less painful with time and distance. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

I guess after extensive damage to the loving heart and the many surgeries required to make it heal, those beats would be slower and the pain would lessen over time. I doubt a heart is ever truly on hold, though. It's much too stubborn an organ for that. Always waiting for the right person to give some more of itself to. Nice to read your words again, Jacob. ⚘
