They, We, Us, me...

They, We, Us, me...

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

They, We, Us, me...

enablers,

thieves to our well-being

all things being equal

we adore them

as they implore us

to continue our quest

for banishment of our senses

garnishment of sound decisions

nourishment of lavishly lame behavior

friends to the clothed eye

but to the naked one

blind spots shielding welfare

we have been sated

filled up with fantasy

we portray the fool

they applaud

extol our lost virtue

climb the stage

to celebrate

our performance

in deterioration

I bow sheepishly

sign autographs

disappear from the limelight

a one-act catastrophe

they loved

in my worst moments.

This poem speaks volumes! An old friend once told me that people lead with their strongest traits, be they good or bad. I know a disabler who doesn't get anywhere in life, but who listens to him more than him? Nobody. It's funny how people limit themselves. When I write I write what I want not what I can. Your poem is well explained and expressed, having a silver-lining plus vibe to it that I liked. tyfs

Want in writing is a good thing, Cyprian...a very good thing.

Of course, enablers need love, too. That's why they enable.

yes, true.
thank you, John,

Enablers are dangerous ones for we applaud weird and sometimes sad behavior. You write about this so well in your piece. We think we are helping them, but instead we are hurting them, preventing them from getting better in every way.....we are the fools who support deterioration, and are applauded for it. We actually shield them from reality and what is best for their rehabilitation or whatever. A very important piece, J.

you're very welcome J
Dear J, your beautifully crafted lines speak to me of betrayal. When someone we think we know turns out to be someone else entirely. How well you describe those feelings. Thieves of our well being. I would imagine most of your readers would have experienced such a situation at least once in their life time. Trust broken causes wounds that run deep. Perfectly penned dear friend.

thank you for your kind understanding, Chris,

Life is full with these thieves, specially the political ones who talk making life sounds so beautiful while the reality says something else so the best not to listen or count on them at all, so the friends, so the loved ones... whom we openly shared our hearts, minds and souls with thinking we are walking a beautiful road together making the impossible possible, betrayal hurts, deceiving hurts... but many times it has nothing to do with us and how we are, I read somewhere (karma sometimes being hard on You not because You are bad but to learn when to stop being good) this HITS! now I would like the title to be "They, We, Us, ME..." :>
