A reflection on life and how we have dealt with it as we near the finishing line. Good to reflect, good to learn by our mistakes, but no good worrying about them. As to those pearly gates, well I am in no hurry to find out whether they will open or close for me :) There is acceptance here for the inevitable.
'The track has been picturesque' An excellently written poem! I apologize it took me so long to review this since I was last on here, but I'm glad this was the one I clicked! This is a very thought-provoking piece full of emotion. In a way, it's almost macabre but written in a haunting and thankful way, saying goodbye but being okay with it. Thank you for sharing. (:

march forward even at the lower speed
speak out for silence is not golden
i cannot find many wrongs or rights with aging
i am old i am tired and poor
my feet stink and i still don't love jesus (thanks to jimmy)
my days are what they are ... all in all i am the happiest i have ever been ... period!
and i can nap when i want or eat ice cream for breakfast!
it has taken my entire life to get to this point ... i have only begun to fight!

when things slip from our fingers we clink and appreciate them more, seeing with new eyes, similar to a near death experience, no one back from there the same. your last verse had me smiling, best to end it with a touch of humor, my father died with a smile on his face and I still remember the smile (what a coincidence, he died this day back on 2008). may You live long, healthy, happy and creative dear Mr. J.

Ach, you'll be told there's been some kind of clerical error and you have to do another lap Jacob.
I'll be the boom in the distance you hear as they erect a tent at the side of the track and put me to "sleep." 😊
