being played

a game of political chess
stalemate
checkmate
choose your mate

the game is a lie
the King lost his toupee
the bishop is in scandalous peril
the knight's sheen is a rusted illusion

the Queen has been violated
the board is bored with itself
we are the pawns
absorbed into ridicule, rooked

storm is coming
nail down the pieces
before they scatter
it's our move.

The chess analogy here is interesting. My guess is the pieces represent actual figures on the world scene. I'm pretty sure about the king, who has been put out of office, but the others escape me. The Queen may actually mean Elizabeth, regarding the perpetual Royal Family soap opera. The bishop may be Pope Francis, with the ongoing priestly sex scandals. Can't get a fix on the knight. The storm? Can't be any worse than Brother Covid.

The stragedy of political games juxtoposed against chess is a clever idea. The kings know how to win, how to manipulate and how to cover there tracks. Things are never quite black and white are they?

.............ha-ha.
I want to learn chess
Partner plays a lot
It’s his thing he does alone on his phone
Asked him to teach me
No he says it would take a lifetime
I’ll try my hand alone at learning
I love this
Love the metaphors
Very cleverly written Jacob

You have mayhem in these lines Jacob. A scene of chaos. Yes a game of chess. A checkered board, black and white. Never was any good at chess. Never too late to learn though.
