A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Commercial

i took out a reverse mortgage on my poem

had some extra words to work with

didn't have to pay extreme monthly emotions

made my poem worth a bit more

but when it came time for me to expire

the confusion of syllables

summoned me a lawyer in verse

to figure out what i died owing

to that Great Bard in the sky.

I personally didn't think you were in a position requiring taking out a reverse mortgage on your poetry. But I suppose times are hard. I just refinanced on my house for a lower interest rate a couple of days ago, so this made me smile. So incredibly clever.

Dear Jacob,

Never read Him described before as the Great Bard in the sky! I'm blown away, bowled over and more! With such poetry, I am sure, all your debts will be canceled in the after-ever.

You have the knack of turning language on its head... and somewhere, not near behind or in front, are the day to day complexities.. the frustration, the needs, the give back but never receive in logic and creativity. Your mind must dance a dervish twist and turn.. not a case of give and ye shall receive but a hey take an interest but don't expect your letter swill become gold edged. Perhaps? Read twice, not sure I have the gist but tried. ' when it came time for me to expire ~ the confusion of syllables ~ summoned me a lawyer .. ' Seems even the Bard sits waiting for pennies from Heaven.

You are welcome Jacob.
I love that ending. Without relizing it we are selling ourselves to the govermebt. But in the end the goverment puts us ib the defective pile.

Alright..now you're just making fun of us..pretty good. Definitely a great spoof on the state of retirement finances and syllables as well as the price we pay as poets. Be it a Bank too big to fall or the Great Bard in the sky, they've both been deregulated and it's always up to us to bail them out. Have you read E.E. Cummings lately? WTH?? hahaha Another treasure for the blood box J. Thanks!!

Love your twist on reverse mortgages & figuring out what's owed. I'm sure there'll be too much confusion among my syllables to ever figure out my debt *sigh* Fondly, Margie
