It's the Blessed Game we Play

It's the Blessed Game we Play

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

It's the Blessed Game we Play

when poets touch

there is breath

a width of meaning

a length of suffering shared

mingling heartbeats

from empathetic pens

sympathetic pens

maybe pathetic pens

that understand the meaning

of what has none

because

when poets touch

no words need to be expressed

even when they are

we are the dimensions of each other's subconscious

measured in lines that connect

like letters on a scrabble board

triple-word scores

matching all the senses

so eloquently.

we are dimensions of each others subconscious- this is a great line. Brings me back to philosophy...Descartes, Berkely, Hume, what is real, perception...does the material world exist...I love this line

God, imagine if we only perceive the material world, and it really isn't there at all?

Mostly pathetic for me!!!! lol...you have the right of it. Poets and artists are a necessary evil for a world starved for definition and personal context. Good points all around...loved this!

thank you for your kind words, Crowley,

Poets think alike at least subconsciously; even though some words mean nothing; they still write; as on a scrabble board, players think and make words that have meaning ( or they cheat) ,they don’t have to speak just like poets....this poem has a lot of feelings in it that I like.

You're quite welcome, B
There is something about poetry that goes beyond words. It is more of a feeling.

empathetic pens
sympathetic pens
maybe pathetic pens

We view other poets through many dimensions of feeling and thought.

I love playing scrabble. I'm glad to see other poets do too! Anything that is word-y.

Lovely piece.

often picking up where another left off....Connecting the letters...for one another. We need this reinforcement in order to keep writing and sharing our vulnerability...

One of your best Jacob, we are nothing without each other because like seeks like , we have a silent connection that binds us in the creative threads of imagination.

So beautifully expressed. When poets touch, no words are needed. There is a remarkable understanding which is difficult to define.

thank you so much, Chris,

We share this impossible burden and joy, the constant call in being witnesses to the invisible. We take the intangible tangibles and give them life, keeping our minds ready for the muses...the burden is real and the joy rewards us with the face of yet another empty page. It is a special thing indeed. Haven't seen you at the Tuesday meetings though..hahaha. Thanks J...1967 Bee Gees..pre-Disco era..definitely something special and happy to be back. Now if I can only post something. Poet to poet secret handshake my friend!
