Party

Party

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Party

i think Titles

are

a

big Deal

but

only in poetry

not corporate

or political

or Dr.'s of Humanities

who are usually inhuman

sucking the teats

of doctorate wannabes

rubbing shoulders at parties

not political

not corporate

just sad genius

drinking martini's

with a shaken splash of intellect

and a whole lot of

ego spilling onto

that beautifully ruined

coffee table.

Of course I know exactly what you mean, and when I have finished my drink I'm going to write it in the alluring white space below.

I look forward to reading what you put in the "alluring white space"--
thank you, Delmar.

I like the description of the human ego replacing the importance of a title, also liked the metaphor at the end, "the ego spilling in the table", and the wordplay of the world party.

Thank you for your kind words, enigma,

We are blessed with your rhetoric that defies
all that lingers... in politics and society... gently, Pat

Well said. I kind of have my own hierarchy of the world:
bottom: the people (sometimes called the "mob")
middle: the mediators (sometimes called "professors" - they profess to know and interpret what people at the top do)
top: the creators (artists mostly)

So, academics (of course there are exceptions) are like a priesthood, like the Pharisees.
"Everything they do is done for men to see: they love the place of honor at banquets
they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them `Rabbi.'"

Hahaha I like this one here, parties are only good in poetry and fun. I did a poem about a revolution without dancing. I should post it. Very... What's the word for this poem I cannot think. Comical? No, ironic? Maybe- but the humor is very cute

yes, you should post it. Thank you for your kind review, Sarah.

I'm sure if you look through history you'll find it's probably always been that way. Lots of narcissists out there and many ruined coffee tables.
