Of course I know exactly what you mean, and when I have finished my drink I'm going to write it in the alluring white space below.

I like the description of the human ego replacing the importance of a title, also liked the metaphor at the end, "the ego spilling in the table", and the wordplay of the world party.
Well said. I kind of have my own hierarchy of the world:
bottom: the people (sometimes called the "mob")
middle: the mediators (sometimes called "professors" - they profess to know and interpret what people at the top do)
top: the creators (artists mostly)
So, academics (of course there are exceptions) are like a priesthood, like the Pharisees.
"Everything they do is done for men to see: they love the place of honor at banquets
they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them `Rabbi.'"

They just loved showing off their intellect. They couldn't really party---they would sip drinks and talk shop...God, I love writing, and reading the great poets, well the Beats mostly, and being around academia...but I cannot put on that suit...
I cannot take myself that seriously...and I won't, ever.
thank you for your words, Laz.
Professors profess...amen.
Hahaha I like this one here, parties are only good in poetry and fun. I did a poem about a revolution without dancing. I should post it. Very... What's the word for this poem I cannot think. Comical? No, ironic? Maybe- but the humor is very cute
