the lost receipt

the lost receipt

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the lost receipt

excellent ridicule

thank you for your insults

they prove i am better than you

even though i am a worthless contraption

of lyrics that don't work

rusted parts

an anomaly of heart

you allow me to be trashed

rather than returned for a new version

i am tired of writing

when the pinnacle

is no more than a derisive grin

that is ephemeral

in its width

i always was more afraid of widths

than heights

i think i will jump off a building

sideways

the thump might inspirit

another poem

wrapped in the blood of the fall.

Don’t ever denigrate yourself; you are the epitome of poetic grace, the mentor of all mentors; I’m not sure this isn’t a spoof, because it’s so hard to believe. That anyone would put you and your work down; don’t ever put yourself down Jacob; I hope this was a spoof; another great write ( despite its content)

Top marks for this one j. The perfect reposte. I picture a Cheshire cat grin that is really not there ... slowly disappearing in the darkness of a dank basement. (theirs ... not yours) "Off with his head" she cried, but the old noggin is operating at a top notch pace.

Good one my friend.

somebody messing with you Jacob?! Just let me attem! Grrrrrrrrr, when people are reduced to insults and name calling, it's simply because they have nothing more intelligent to say.

Ps... please do not self impale on your pen, it's counter productive and give them the upperhand, better to ignore completely if at all possible.

(((hugs)))
even in the blood from sideway splatter, I see a poet of worth...

"you allow me to be trashed / rather than returned for a new version", man do I feel this the dichotomy for being put down and left to live with it... why don't they just pull the trigger already...

but blood splatter is always the liquid of the muses!!! let it flow!!!

oh and if you need a receipt, I have yours over here Jacob.... great poem my friend...

Your imagery is impressive! Your opening puts me in mind of Buddhism (which I'm studying). One tenet goes -- if a beloved someone needs to win bad enuf to hurt me, let them have their win. Your sarcasm is a slap in the face! If I jumped off a building sideways, I'd probably land upside down! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is so unlike you. A gentle retaliation of sorts when normally you wouldn't go there. I thought of trolls first and then my mind wandered. Hope you are not beating yourself up ovet your writing Jacob.

Not too sure I understand the background, but I know you are a fine poet, the first one I visit when I look at poems here. If it is any consolation ( it probably isnt) I haven´t had anything published for years, I could plaster my email account with rejections, don´t worry about trolls, keep on writing!
