Why not

Why not

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Why not

eradicate the injustice

love the hate that binds us

until ropes of oppression burn themselves out

and we are free to roam

against a gentle wind

loose ends

available

to touch again

and only tie us apart

with affectionate knots

dangling together

under a new sun

with a much softer bond

not of suffocation

but of restoration

of what never was

and only thought it could be...

A cry in the wilderness for change. Let there be kindness, let there be love, let there be more peace and understanding everywhere. How I agree Jacob.

thank you for your words, Chris,

Reading your poem, for the first time I got this vision -- not being able to fully interact anymore (covid protections) could be payback for our inability to fully embrace one another all the years before. Maybe if we play nice, multiple threats looming will dissipate! Of course our leader seems to suggest that we can be evermore s****y to one another, & covid will still just dissipate. I don't know what to think, but not many seem to be thinking of solutions like your poem suggests! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Oh yes, this is what we all hope for. A better world....one that we only dreamed about. May it be so soon. Wonderfully hopeful, Jacob. Lydi**

I found the first three lines very strong and a gateway to the rest of the piece. They make a statement explained as the piece progresses with a hopeful voice.
