a ship that has sailed

a ship that has sailed

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a ship that has sailed

arthritis flavored feelings

love's joints aching

with boredom

we once were a fling above the world

now long since landed

our intensity has turned flat

Columbus was wrong.

Round the world passion, and then boom.
The lonely sail back home.
This is why the flat earth society was never disbanded.
Columbus, what did he know.

Ha ha, yes, what did he know?
Thank you for your words, Paul.

It's like that scene from "Wonder Woman" when Diana tries to convince Steve (chris pine) to lay with her as they drifted on that boat to the mythical "front lines". The hardest part was the convincing, not the attraction. "We once were a fling above the world" . Never has a more beautiful yet unchaste line ever been written..dana

love that movie, and that scene...
Thank you for that analogy...

These days it does seem like the world is flat and all of us will fall off of it in a matter of moments. Aches are pains are accentuated in the alone times of life. Nothing seems to matter. These last two poems you posted really pack a punch. Lydi**

I feel this. All the sports related injuries of my youth have caught up with me!
The fizzling intensity is a reality in most relationships that have endured. Maybe some even ground for a while isn't so bad. that much more enjoyable when things pick up again.
Good morning :) I'm still half asleep. Hope that made sense.

Yes, you made perfect sense....thank you for your insights, Ana,

I think Columbus was proof that men couldn't hit the sweet spot with a map ... since he never actually landed in America ... of course, America didn't exist at that time ... did it?

and flat intensity may be better than no intensity at all.

No just some land...I like your last line. Thanks, Ted.

getting old, losing the 'excitement', habit, for some, this is called 'life'.... kinda sucks though, this view on life, especially when all around us the cosmos spirals outward.... kinda also reminds me that people are crazy as some still believe the earth is flat and Columbus "discovered" america, which of course was news to the people who lived here already....

sometimes when we lose the one we love, we fail to see how exciting the world around us really is... or can be...
