a ship that has sailed

a ship that has sailed

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a ship that has sailed

arthritis flavored feelings

love's joints aching

with boredom

we once were a fling above the world

now long since landed

our intensity has turned flat

Columbus was wrong.

Well, you didn't sink .
And neither did your way with words.

I still got ya back jacob ... a deal is a deal isn't it and we still got a long ways to sail yet my friend .. and when one can pen words like "we once were a fling above the world" .. a bloomin long way indeed ...

A life lived to the full in full sail, with the passions of woman as crew, now yearned for as the bones of the ship creak and fill with water and the crossing globe days feel all done. A yearning piece needing analgesia!

Some people can't imagine growing old without a mate, even if such a coupling is without pizazz. I love how your poem reminds: everything that goes up must come down! I'm not sure what Columbus claimed . . . that the world's flat? Or NOT flat? Your metaphors are always spunky (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

it's not so bad the world being flat but I've often wondered what is on the underneath side and how far through it is

A thought-provoking piece, the word "flat" juxtaposed with the final line that Columbus was wrong. I can't help but think the intensity was manifest destiny. Once you've conquered, what is there to do but apologize to those you crushed along the way.

"We were once a fling above the world" High hopes, reduced to flat lining. That is some come down.
