High Society and the Poets Underneath

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

High Society and the Poets Underneath

i was doing a line dance

pure snow falling on verbiage

gambols paid off into a windfall

of poetic lottery

there is a higher art

or being high endeavoring for artful lodging

paying to stay

paying to play

the dance of syllabic waltz

seeming a tame movement

when words want to

synonym shimmy blind

regardless of the partner writing them.

I knew there was/is a reason you became an English teacher..lol. Stunned as usual..The double entendres are obviously out there and running fuel into the tank of your latest meditations..your art and perhaps your angst as well...the "verbiage"...question now left to the reader is who or what is the 'lottery". Thanks for the great read J. Eggs by the Dozen for me..Happy holidays.

My pleasure J.
The dance of our words. I believe some of us must write. The words are always dancing in our head. Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome my friend.
I always considered poetry writing a sort of dance. An after work, Christmas party dance where a little wine and sugar cookies makes even the unwieldy among us have a go at a little boogaloo or two...lol. What I mean is that sometimes the body has to accept it's limitations and not fall for the contraptions of ungainly relief. poetry is hard to do and it's even harder to do every day. I have totally enjoyed your sober approach in this weary world my friend.. Looking forward to your contributions in the new year....dana
