A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the party has been over for years

writing is becoming a woeful ennui
even my words are yawning at me
without respect enough
to close their mouths

Is this about me? :)
If not, I can surely relate to it. I often wonder why I still walk these halls, but someday the outside world may force me to carry out more responsible chores. Till then...I'd say your average 10 to 12 reviews beat my 1 or 2. ha

You're always good to read, J.

When all else fails, think of penguins. It works for me is all I'm saying 😀
I do admit though, that rather than worrying in periods where my head despairs of writing, or even thinking of something original is now beyond me, picture what shenanigans those little guys are getting up to always solves the problem.
I do however lay awake most nights worrying of my penguin poetry is wearing a bit thin, instead.
We do get there in the end Jacob, no matter the stubborness of our rebelling mind.

sometimes we would do well to take a break from that which once flowed but has gone dry. stepping away and returning rejuvenated with a fresh perspective trying different things perhaps. even a dry well as quenched the thirst for this write. maybe some balloons, noisemakers and funny hats could get the blood flowing again. better to yawn than snore methinks ... :)

You must believe that once a poet always a poet. Hang on in there the words are only 'parked' waiting for release - at the right time!

writing has become a wonderful feast
even now you call for more
without a doubt in mind
your need re-order once again, at least.

I don't believe this about you for one minute, even tho you've tried to convince me before that you get this way sometimes. I had a hard time keeping my mind on the "writing" interpretation of your poem, since I was thinking "political party" as soon as I saw your title. I love the "words yawning at me" . . . even tho rarely struck by a block myself, I do sometimes feel like I'm just rehashing the same limited themes from my limited life! Thought-provoking & nice play on words (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

It's just a bit of writers block...those blocks that build walls between our feelings and our pen, those blocks that secure our inward joy, protecting it from vandalism and thieves. But the party survives in memory and the smile returns in reflection. It's always a pleasure and an inspiration to read your words my friend.

The least they could do is turn their heads ... and stop that damned laughing.

There are times writing seeks out the Doldrums, sailing off into that sea, leaving us standing on the beach while the natives gather large pots of hot water and sharpen their spears.

At that point we hope the Muse decides to ride to the rescue.

Good write friend.
