the wind in my sail

the wind in my sail

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the wind in my sail

pig in a blanket
glutton for the "between the sheets" entree

but the meal was sparse
a la carte
no dessert

not even a goodbye kiss
she just said "package it up, and take it with you"

but it was cold by the time
i got home.

A very cold reception. Longing spurned and hardly anything sustainable offered. Such a cruel rejection is sure to take the wind out of anyone’s sail. And keep it cold for a long time to come. Appreciated very much Jacob.

Guess it was: "Slam, bam, thank you, man!"
No place for pigs and gluttons. You're even told to take your package with you.
What a revoltin' development!

What a disappointment when you are hungry to find what materialised fell way short of what you may have been expecting. You certainly had the wind removed from your sails on this occasion. Pig in a blanket, made me laugh out loud. I found this funny and naughty at the same time. Hope this was what you intended and my mind isn't playing games with me :)

I love your fresh contrary take on the stale old concept of "wind in my sail" . . . this reminds me of just about how abrupt I would be, back when I decided to give someone the boot from my life. On a tangent, my bro-in-law (recent RIP) used to say grace for 20 minutes as I peeked thru pretend-shut eyelids to watch all that food getting cold, when mom & sis had worked so hard to get it all to the table piping hot. That was always one of the great ironies of our family holidays! I think I drank too much coffee this morning (first frost here) Fondly, Margie
