Due in some part to a culture of rife indifference, but mainly I think to the almost supernova rise of social media and the recent avalanche of of fake news, (not that's its a new phenomenon,) they're getting away with it; and the nature of the beast is to do just that. The feathering of their own nests numbering 1 to 10 on an agenda of 10.
We have the same problem on this side of the pond. Lies, lies and more lies took us down the pointless path of Brexit, a messy divorcing of mostly like minded nations; and to boot, our biggest trading partner. And now we have yet another election; the choice being betwixt a sixties throwback and a consummate bullshitter, (sorry, I don't ordinarily use bad language,) the alternative being to mark our X in a compromise box, that at this stage is looking rather attractive to me and to many of my friends, who are shaking their heads in despair.
'False opinions are like false money, struck first of all by guilty men and thereafter circulated by honest people who perpetuate the crime without knowing what they are doing.' Joseph de Maistre
Apologies for the rant, but this is a telling poem.

the ones they are supposed to serve..us...are the ones who get ignored because they all have their own agendas and in-fighting that makes them forget for what and whom they are elected.
it is a monster on the loose...and as Steppenwolf sang..."has us in its noose...and just sits there watching"---
thank you for sharing how you relate to this piece,

This just has to be about your politics. Five minutes to pollute. That's all it takes. Give them a platform and look at the damage they can inflict in five minutes. If they use twitter, they an do it in seconds. It's happening here too. Contagious like a bad cold. Just think of all those germs in the air :))

truth is an elusive thing. interesting take on the hearings. you've captured the essence of this pointless drama. like children - "he said", "she said." folks do love soap operas. think of all the really important things our so-called leaders could better spend their time on. does the wind carry truth or hot air? sad commentary on our ill political system. we've reached a new low - you would think we would have learned from the past ... :)

A very interesting attempt which I feel is successful where it counts. Some of the imagery is difficult such as Frisbees with jack hammers but the fourth stanza is enough to make up for it and draws me into a discomforting place which I enjoy. A good read.
Amazing words and thoughts shared Jacob.
"in rhetorical slant
not to be answered
just acknowledged"
The above lines were my favorite. You said a handful. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I assume this is directed toward the impeachment issue, which to my mind is just a further extension of the whole Trump disgrace

This is the best depiction I've ever read anywhere, as to how this swirling toilet of scat-tastic smears strikes me most of the time. I can't get excited about any of it, as far as having some hope that this will go in a more positive direction someday. It seems like a "spinning, floating, bloating" downward trend to me! Your words so drip with disgust, it feels satisfying when you can capture that utter incredulity (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
