Peter Presiding

Peter Presiding

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Peter Presiding

bellowing angels

stranded wings,

God's children ruin their sneakers

running into a sin's mire

foolish frenzies of hateful corporation

a conglomerate of poorly played symphonies

the sound abrasive

prayers just abstract intentions

never said

the music in the confessional

is a bevy of insincere notes

bellowing angels

wings of love and guardianship

ripped apart

with convoluted inception

of lies

of lies

of lies

the courtroom is deadly silent

the flying is over

the truth is out

there are no more songs of love

that mean what they are meant to mean

just raspy voices

begging for a curbside quarter or two.

Nice weave of heaven on Earth with enough distortion to last an eternity.

oh yes - the music in the confessonal - a bevy of insincere notes - ah a cynic after my own heart wish I had thought of those two lines - Thankyou Jacob made my day.

thank you for that kind remark, Michael....glad i could make somebody's day...

I probably have the wrong perception altogether so I'll just say what the first thing I heard in my head as I read-----all the wrong people in charge.
This seems to fit a lot of situations in a lot of different places.

and i like the situation you presented...works for me...love the different interpretations....thank .. read more
A few lines in I started hearing that one Billie Eilish song (you know, that one), so my perspective here may be horribly skewed, but

The post-apocalyptic madman who read this to me, and everyone--trying to warn the world of what's already happened (and they're still not listening; it was just last Tuesday)--has a great point and a lovely cadence.

This reminds me of our current situation of bush fires and our Leader says let us pray for the bush fire victims. They don't need prays they need financial support for God's sake! I hate leaders who mix religion with politics it is so cheap and degrading for those concerned. Nice write J.

thank you for sharing where this took you, andrew...interesting...

dear Jacob... somehow... this reminds me of the "hearings" where
only one side is heard. What happened to "there is much to be said for both sides".
I long for the days when a whistle-blower really was a musician... even if he or she
made it up as notes from a well versed ease-dropper. "Peter Presiding" is a Title
to ponder, as Peter was an apostle... with an open mind wanting to learn from
someone very wise. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his Soul.
Why is it that our Leaders cannot understand this premise. truly, Pat
