the little shelter in the snow

the little shelter in the snow

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the little shelter in the snow

agitated lover,

caressed by her tears

can't do more than absorb them

upon his own skin

he wants to shake them loose

hold her eyes in his

so she feels at home

within iris walls

the safe space within his vision

so that with dry cheeks

they can climb mountains of tribulations

with a certain ease

leave that cold cabin of fear

and intimate pain

to dwell on an apex

in amalgamated glory.

A truly wonderful write that is brimming with love and understanding. Rich with metaphors that embrace the emotions and draw the reader in, I found myself hanging onto each and every word. This is one I will want to save and absorb over time.

thank you for such a kind review, Dara,

I really like where this poem took me. The emotional security afforded by such a relationship can face many storms and tribulations. This is something precious.
