Cease Fire

Cease Fire

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Cease Fire

insurgence

you attacked my heart

with a hostile takeover

but we reached armistice

in forgiving embrace

and now co-exist nicely

in what once was a war zone

some of the cosmetics of the skirmish

still visible

especially within,

war wounds woven seamlessly

into the fabric

of emotions that became shrapnel

before the duct tape forgiveness

brought about

a desperate truce.

You made my heart cry with this poem Jacob... so many dead or left homeless... more than 5 million refugees looking for escape but with no where to go... “desperation”, what a hard and cold word especially in the face of ethnic cleansing and wars of aggression... and what makes all this even more horrible is that the world does not have to be this way... but we will need a different political/economic system to end this madness...

You have penned a much needed poem with this write Jacob, thank you for this strong voice!!!

All true and wonderful. You are welcome sir Jacob.
Felt the brutality that a couple can inflict upon one another when harmony becomes war and in this the peace is a fragile one as the players dance around one another. Another allegorical diamond!

there needs to be a PTSD diagnosis for the broken hearted eh!? your "couple" had a tough go of it, it seems ...i especially like their fix ...a bit of duct tape ... and their desperate truce is a killer ... pulls emotion from me ...
E.
love the allegory ... well timed ...
