Stained Glass Souls

Stained Glass Souls

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Stained Glass Souls

what if a clear window gave reflection
and we could see through the other side of a mirror
into that

other dimension where lost love ones
wait

for someone to Windex the portal
and let them pass
with clear conscience.

An interesting proposition, Jacob. I wonder if there is a longing to return to this world after death or if the spirit feels free.

The mysteries of what happens to those we’ve lost can plague us. Me anyway. Maybe because there’s the understanding that we will be there someday. I’m not sure I could handle knowing the lost were still cognizant and mourning the contact that’s been severed in some in between place. But, I do still have a sense of presence from time to time. So it’s hard to believe the end is simply the end.

A thought-provoking poem. I like the air of mystery you are embracing in your latest poem. An intriguing exploration of meaning and how ideas translate.

Cue strange music and a voice intones "you unlock this door with the key of imagination"

It would be something to have a mirror like that to allow those stained glass souls the ability to visit...but then maybe they do in our dreams...maybe!

Lovely idea here, j. and there would be one or two I wouldn't mind having another visit with...

me, as well, Ted...me, as well...thank you for your words,
j.
Wouldn't that be amazing.
Having already separated from the body, the conscience is split from the spirit, which is physically stuck until it can be in harmony again with the mind.
Incredibly clever and creative.

Wouldn't that be wonderful to see clearly into another dimension where all our loved ones wait. Stained glass, I am thinking of their faults, and some of them had many. I would prefer that new dimension to do what I try to do and focus on the positives rather than the negatives. None of us are faultless. Love is accepting the good along with the not so good. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing. That's where you took me Jacob with your lines. I love how you make us think about what you say. My Dad and my brother were flawed and that is why I love them even more.

more deep thoughts
At near 80, I have quite a few portal reflections that Windex would serve well, parents, relatives, friends and certainly pets, which just don't seem to last long enough and always take a huge chunk of your heart with them when they go
A very interesting reflection on reflections

thank you for sharing and appreciating this piece, Dave,
j.
One reason among others that i love your work is that you make us think and deeply too about current matters of life whether romance or spirituality. I take this as the power of reflection and conscience, the degree of clarity and purity that make a big difference. Some succumb to judging relatives who pass without giving them relief or forgiveness.
An excellent poem...
