A beautiful story of strength and transformation. Blistered emotions, cutting remarks ... sounds like this person didn't even realise how painful they were being. I almost hope that was the case and that they were not causing this pain purposefully. It must have been lonely on the other plane, but how tremendous that the protagonist healed and found peace again in solitude in their beautiful blue sky. Such hope for the future here. A lesson learned perhaps. I also thought BLIStered emotions - BLISSfully reemerging was clever!

thank you for your insightful review, LauraKate,

It is such a shame that sometimes it takes terrible trials and pain to finally realize the beauty that awaits us after all. This is beautifully put, thank you so much for your sharing.
I read this amazing poem as a personal statement of triumph over hurt and pain. I feel your wings as you soar above the suffering in this celebration of closure and ‘moving on’. “ I am human, again” you declare, and recognize that you have no more shackles. You are free from her at last. Kudos my friend and keep flying!
I rarely mention this about my childhood abuse . . . it may strike some as unbelievable . . . I'm very grateful! Not grateful I survived, but grateful it happened. As Chris mentions Maya, I must say I've been deeply influenced by her journey & writings, embracing the person she became BECUZ of the tough path (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

When I read your lines Jacob, I immediately thought of Maya Angelou.
And still I rise - your words in this poem are a triumph. Where you were locked feeling like a grub in a chrysalis, you have emerged a butterfly. Oh yes, an air of gratitude. This dame did you a favour. You have found your wings and how you soar in contentment in blue skies. Love this happy poem Jacob. You are healed.

dear Jacob... a deeply contented blue is a beautiful feeling...
we can find solace in knowing we did what we could under
the circumstances.... It is in giving that we experience the
"torch" to carry on. truly, Pat
