servant to her sacrifice

servant to her sacrifice

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

servant to her sacrifice

serendipity

scarcely plays out

in her wounded womb

the lottery of her indentured love

so random

she believes only in cloudbursts

and fading sunshine

since his smile disappeared

with half her heart

and she feels sure

in the future

to only happen upon

an estranged silence

when the chance encounter

occurs.

Your poem brings to mind those who seek "closure" . . . (my opinion) --> encounters after a break-up are more likely to be "estranged silence" or a mean re-hashing that doesn't bring closure. Sometimes ya just gotta give up on the idea of gaining closure (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Sad and a veritable punch in the solar plexus. It is so weird, i have a friend who is going through this exact same scenario break free. You have a way of getting to the root or real life in a beautifully creative way. Great job Jacob.

That last stanza was powerful and spoke to me. She fears an estranged silence should a chance encounter occur. That is really hurtful if you have loved someone deeply and you feel you are going to be met with a wall of silence. Them pretending that you hadn't existed. That sucks.

She loved and lived and gave her all, forfeited niceties - ne'er went to a ball : now hope is lost , her chance has past, that chance encounter was a non event!
